Too Many Sparks Are Never Lit
to a Flame, VentureGirls Seeks
to Change that Dynamic

When Dr. Cristal Glangchai first went to college, she was surprised at how few women were in her classes. It began a lifelong passion for encouraging girls and women to take more interest in careers that usually attracted men. She worked to see more women in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM).

It was an interest that took her in many directions, and she got involved in several projects until she finally put all the pieces together and founded VentureLab. She learned that just encouraging girls didn’t make an impact, but teaching them entrepreneurial skills in a experiential learning environment did.

We believe that the current education paradigm teaches our children to conform, which limits their beliefs about what they can do.

At VentureLab and through VentureGirls, we’ve been working hard to develop a free and open-source youth entrepreneurship curriculum that is fun, innovative, and can easily be implemented by teachers, community leaders, parents, or anyone else interested in being a champion for kids’ learning.

VentureLab's curriculum helps students, and particularly girls, grow into passionate innovators while they gain the confidence and skills to transform their ideas into realities. We are helping create a new kind of kid, for a new kind of future.

By the end the girls were so much more confident in being able to present a project to working groups which was a lot of things they had never done before. It was really awesome to see how they were able to grow not only just academically but as a person as well and have more confidence, be willing to try new things was a really big thing for our girls because a lot of them don't want to venture outside of their little comfort zone.

When I approached VentureLab, I didn't expect for us to get this much from them. The staff at VentureLab have done instruction, have done direct lesson delivery. They have been mentors to some of our teachers that can keep some of those programs going, so initially, you know, that's not what I expected when I went to VentureLab and I just feel like we got so much more.
